Loop Utah is an ongoing advocacy campaign dedicated to educating Utah venues, consumers and local audiologists about the many benefits of hearing loop technology, which delivers sound directly to an individual’s telecoil-equipped hearing aid or cochlear implant.
Loop Utah will serve to attract, educate, and advocate as the collective voice for loop technology so the Hard of Hearing (HoH) community can have the enriched experience they deserve in venues across the state of Utah.
Loop Utah Steering Committee
The Loop Utah Steering Committee represents a diverse membership of individuals taking an active role in leading the Loop Utah Movement.
The steering committee main goal is to build awareness in and around Utah on how prevalent hearing loss is and work to get venues to understand the need for assistive listening (specifically Loop) technologies. The steering committee will focus on helping the community understand the many issues that occur with hearing loss and the many technologies available for venues to help. The committee will educate the HoH community within Utah on where, when and how to request technology in venues and actions they can take if a venue doesn’t offer the technologies. This group will focus on advocacy for the hearing loss communality as well as hearing loss prevention.
Our vision is to become a model state where T-coil hearing aid and cochlear implant users can take full advantage of assistive listening systems such as hearing loops.
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the Sanderson Center to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in classroom B/C. (No meetings in July and December.)
